Auditions for Amateur and Professional Improv Actors & Buskers
Mystery on the Lake is a unique theatre experience, where the audience members are the stars! Small groups of under 20 travel around on foot, solving the mystery and unravelling clues. Improv actors are placed throughout the route, creating hilarious, memorable moments and leading participants through the story.
Mystery on the Lake currently runs two different productions: The Secret of Butlersburg (in Niagara-on-the-Lake) and The Last Illusionist (in Niagara Falls). Each actor will be expected to learn multiple roles, and may be invited to participate in one or both productions. Actors must be highly responsible and punctual, but also able to interact comfortably in small groups and bring energy and fun into every moment, while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
Improv actors with unique busking skills (e.g. firebreathing, juggling, street magic, etc) will also be considered for specific roles in the Niagara Falls show.
Shows typically run Fridays and Saturdays, although corporate shows may occur on other days. Daily show length ranges from 1 hour to 4 hours, depending on the number of audience groups. Ideally, actors would live near enough that it would be worth coming in for a small number of shows if necessary.
Auditions will be held at the Seneca Theatre in Niagara Falls, from Thursday, February 25th to Saturday, February 27th. Auditions are by appointment only. Amateurs welcome! Email auditions@motl.ca to arrange an audition time.
